Does your website meet government accessibility standards?
You must meet the government accessibility regulations by 2020
New regulations were introduced for public sector bodies in Sept 2018
Is your website ‘perceivable, operable, understandable and robust’?
Most existing websites that were published before 23rd Sept 2018, will need to comply with the 2018 regulations, on or before, 23rd Sept 2020.
In some circumstances, you might need to do things earlier than 2020.
What you need to do
There are two main requirements:
Are you meeting the WCAG 2.1 AA standard, or its European equivalent, EN301 549?
Publish an accessibility statement – based on the 2019 template.
How the accessibility regulations will be enforced
The Government Digital Service will be responsible for monitoring that public sector bodies comply with the 2018 regulations.
